Magenta House was the first real project
Ii was lucky enough to be a part of. Created and led by my fellow peers in the year above me at UCSE, I was initially brought on board as a runner, but soon took on more responsibilities. I eventually started working on the lighting on the first shoot day, creating silhouettes of two poeple. I then picked up a role as behind the scenes photographer and videographer , with some of my work being features on the East Island Productions account. As a runner I helped out with numerous other jobs as Production Assistant. Overall working on Magenta House as my first movie was a fantastic experience, all the crew and actors were great to work with and got got me my first official IMDb credits.
Progressing in my role as BTS videographer and photographer for Magenta House, I came on as producer for the making of documentary, Sufficient Side Effects. Led by Bill Ross, this project sought to showcase everything that went into making the movie, along with interviews of cast and crew, and the public's reaction to the film's premiere at Horror on Sea 2026. Not only was I producer but also camera operator, lighting technician, vision mixing, and sound. This documentary really allowed me to show more of my skills as a creative.
This music video was one created solely by myself and thre other second years. We were given a Super 8 film camera, a new experience for all of us. We wanted to ensure we could showcase our ability to use a different medium of film, demonstrating our adaptability. We each made our own independant edits with our own chosen songs. I chose From The Start as it best matched the vibe and overall narrative of the video. My roles consited in that of acting, directing and writing the script for the video. I made sure to lean more into the silent film and Buster Keaton style. I decided it would be best to make my movements more dramatic and exaggerated, making the most of an audioless format.
Creative Corner was a project myself and the rest of my year group worked on for our final submission of our first year at UCSE. This allowed me to showcase many of my skills, such as directing and producing, in particularly the Beecroft interview, camera operating and lighting. For my first major project of the course, I am certainly proud of it, and it shows how far I have come since then.
